Mary Cassells Story

Mary has been my longest serving client since i came back from Australia 4 and a half years ago, she's been ever present at PT 1 x week, but this year it has finally clicked with her. I do feel the transformation challenges have made her a new woman and I'm delighted for her. She is looking and feeling amazing and deserves every bit of praise that comes her way. A very selfless woman who would do anything for anyone. Amazing Mary. Well done . Here is her story

I’ve always been an active/outdoorsy person, loved walking, running, yoga and in the past 3 years, paddleboarding and wild swimming. I was lucky that I had the sort of metabolism that meant I never needed to watch what I was eating. Then I hit my 40s, and the weight slowly started to pile on. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with the gym.

Never been one of those folk excited to go to the gym, or that liked to workout. But love the feeling afterwards. Anyway, despite discovering a love of weights training with Sean Mcilroy PT, and training online with him all through lockdown. By April 2021 I was the heaviest I had ever been.

Then along came Sean and his challenges. Never one to back off from a challenge, I hit the ground running, and worked really hard for that first 6 weeks. Training 3 or 4 times a week, calorie counting for the first time in my life and no alcohol for 6 weeks. Not only did I lose weight, I slept better, I was able to concentrate better and just felt better both physically and mentally.

This is when I realised that I didn’t want to exercise just to be able to eat/drink what I want at the weekend. I wanted this to become a lifestyle choice, rather than a 6 week challenge. For his 2nd challenge, I managed to have a holiday, where I had alcohol every day, ate some delicious (extremely fresh) seafood, but also worked out daily and did loads of walking.

It was like someone had flicked a switch on, in my mind In 6 months I’ve lost 1st 7.5lbs (9.75kg), 15cm off my waist, 9cm off my chest/back and 11cm off my backside.

I’ve now set myself 2 new challenges….4-pack abs and able to do a set of unassisted pull ups. With my new mindset I know I'll get there.
